Mr A. R. Lazarous (Farrer Park): Mr Speaker, Sir, I was really following the report in the papers that the Singapore Government had decided to put a ban on Chinese textiles. So naturally I filed the motion but now I understand from the Minister concerned that there is no ban on Chinese textiles. In that case, Sir, I think there is no use of my going on with the motion. I therefore beg leave of the Assembly to withdraw the motion.
Mr Speaker: The hon. Member, of course, has not filed a motion at all. He has gained the right to speak on the Adjournment and I gather that he does not now wish to do so.
Mr A. R. Lazarous: That is so, Sir.
Mr Speaker: Thank you.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That this Assembly do now adjourn.
Adjourned accordingly at Twenty minutes to Six o'clock p.m. to 5th November, 1958.
