RESIGNATION OF MEMBER

Mr Speaker: I have to announce to Honourable Members that at 4 p.m. yesterday, 3rd March, 1959, a letter from the Member for Whampoa (Mr Chew Swee Kee) resigning his seat in the Assembly, was handed in at my office and was duly received by me immediately after the rising of the Assembly at 4.30 p.m.

In accordance with section 50 of the Singapore Colony Orders in Council, 1955 and 1956, I reported the vacancy thus created to His Excellency the Governor.
