[Mr SPEAKER in the Chair]

Mr Speaker: Honourable Members will recollect that on the 4th day of December, 1961, I read to this House a reply dated the 30th November, 1961, received by the, Clerk from the Commissioner of Police, Singapore, in relation to the resolution of the Assembly agreed to on the 29th November, 1961, regarding the matter of privilege reported to the Assembly by the Leader of the House affecting the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Education. The Commissioner of Police stated then that he had ordered an immediate investigation and would be submitting the results to the State Advocate-General as soon as possible.

A further letter dated the 19th December, 1961, has been received by the Clerk from the Commissioner of Police. It reads as follows : -

'Dear Sir.

Assembly Resolution of 29th November, 1961.

Further to my letter of 30th November. 1961, I regret to inform you that although detailed investigations have been carried out, it has not proved possible to deal with the culprits according to the law because of lack of evidence of identification.

Yours faithfully, (signed) A. E. G. BLADES, Commissioner of Police, Singapore.'
