Mr David Marshall asked the Minister for Culture whether he will make a statement as to his routine daily relations with members of the editorial staff of daily newspapers published in Singapore.

Mr S. Rajaratnam: Sir, I have no routine daily relations with members of the editorial staff of daily newspapers.

Mr David Marshall: I would like to ask the Minister if it is not true that daily he is in communication with editors of daily newspapers seeking to ascertain the publication of editorials, offering suggestions for amendments to publication of political news items, and generally exercising coercive supervisory control.

Mr Speaker: Order. I must remind the Member for Anson that epithets of that nature are out of order under our Standing Orders when questions are being asked. Questions should be made simple and straightforward.

Mr Rajaratnam: No, Sir. That is a complete figment of the Member for Anson's imagination.
