Mr Tee Kim Leng asked the Minister for Culture (i) what was the total expenditure for the 1960 Loyalty Week celebrations, and (ii) what was the total expenditure for the 1961 National Day Celebrations.

Mr Rajaratnam: Sir, there was no expenditure for the 1960 Loyalty Week Celebrations because no such celebrations were held in 1960. If, however, the hon. Member is interested in figures relating to Loyalty Week Celebrations held in December 1959, I shall be glad to furnish him with such figures.

As regards the second part of the question, the total expenditure for the 1961 National Day Celebrations was $56,659.92.
