The Deputy Prime Minister (Dr Toh Chin Chye): Mr Speaker, I do not intend to move the "Guillotine" motion* standing in my name.
*The motion reads as follows:
That the proceedings on the motion in the name of the Prime Minister, in regard to the Internal Security Council's Decision and Statement on Communist Conspiracy, if not previously disposed of, be brought to a conclusion at 12 o'clock midnight.
However, I would like to inform the House that it will be my intention to lift Standing Order No. I so that the debate on item 4 relating to the Internal Security Council's Decision and Statement on Communist Conspiracy will be taken until the completion of the proceedings on that item.
Mr Speaker: The Leader of the House does not intend moving that business motion now? He prefers to wait until 7 o'clock?
Dr Toh Chin Chye: Yes.
