Mr Chia Thye Poh asked the Minister for Education whether the Government has any plans to establish a school in Bulim Village at 12 milestone Jurong Road, and what language will be the medium of instruction in this school.

Mr Ong Pang Boon: Mr Speaker, Sir, there is no plan to establish a school at 12 milestone Jurong Road. However, a rural type primary school is being built in Resettlement Area 5A, off 13½ milestone Choa Chu Kang Road, where Bulim Village is situated. This is a 10-classroom school. This school is expected to be ready for occupation at the commencement of the next school year. The media of instruction will be decided on the basis of actual demand. In view of the large Chinese population here, it is safe to presume that Chinese will be one of the media of instruction.
