Mr R. A. Gonzales asked the Minister for Law and National Development whether there is a scheme, or if he will give early consideration to one, for the laying of public sewers in the Upper Serangoon Constituency to provide sewerage facilities to the densely populated suburb of Upper Serangoon.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for National Development (Mr Ho Cheng Choon) (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, there is no immediate scheme to construct public sewers in the Upper Serangoon Constituency, as other schemes have been given higher priority. In the next Five-Year Development Plan 1966-70, there is a scheme to provide for the sewer mains, which now come up only to the junction of Bartley and Braddell Roads, to be extended towards the Braddell Road and Upper Serangoon area. When extended, it will be possible for the densely populated suburb of Upper Serangoon to be served with sewerage facilities.
