Mr Ng Kah Ting asked the Minister for Law and National Development whether there are any plans to, construct a road linking Punggol Road with Tampines Road; and where the link road will be constructed.
The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Law and National Development (National Development Division) (Mr Ho Cheng Choon) (for the Minister for Law and National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, the Public Works Department has looked into several possibilities of constructing a link road to join Punggol Road with Tampines Road. Any link road to be constructed would run through swampy land. Further, a bridge must be built across Sungei Serangoon. In view of the high cost involved, there is no immediate economic justification for such a project.
