Mr P. Govindaswamy asked the Minister for Communications whether the Port of Singapore Authority is considering the introduction of a 4-shift system for port workers, and whether there will be sufficient workers to man the shifts.

Mr Yong Nyuk Lin: Mr Speaker, Sir, as the present three-shift system for dock workers in the Port of Singapore Authority would appear to be adequate to meet the requirements of the shipping community, there is therefore no intention on the part of P.S.A. to introduce a four-shift system.
