Mr Ngeow Pack Hua asked the Minister for Finance whether he will ascertain from the Jurong Town Corporation the response to the announcement of the revised scheme for the rental of JTC flats.
Dr Tan Eng Liang (for the Minister for Finance): Mr Speaker, Sir, I understand from the Jurong Town Corporation (JTC) that since the announcement of the revised schemes for the rental of JTC flats, 783 flats have been allocated to date.
The revised schemes are intended to provide accommodation at reasonable rentals to skilled non-citizen industrial workers in Jurong. These revised schemes have enabled the JTC to achieve greater occupation of flats in Jurong.
In accordance with Government policy, the JTC will be reserving sufficient numbers of flats to accommodate both citizen and non-citizen skilled industrial workers in Jurong in future.
