RESIGNATION OF MR YONG NYUK LIN, MEMBER FOR GEYLANG WEST

Mr Speaker: I have to inform hon. Members that at 4.00 p.m. on 12th January, 1979, I received a letter dated 12th January, 1979, from Mr Yong Nyuk Lin resigning his seat in Parliament as Member for the Electoral Division of Geylang West.

In accordance with clause (2) of Article 30 and clause (4) of Article 91 of the Constitution, the seat of the Member became vacant with effect from the aforementioned time.
