BEDOK NORTH ESTATE (Development of open spaces in Neighbourhoods 5 and 7)

Encik Saidi Haji Shariff asked the Minister for National Development if he will elaborate on the development of Bedok North in particular the open space in front of Block 551, Block 552 and Block 554 in Neighbourhood 5 and the land in Neighbourhood 7 between Bedok Reservoir Road and the Pan Island Expressway.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Sir, a neighbourhood park will be developed in the open space in front of Blocks 551, 552 and 554 of Bedok North Estate to serve residents in Neighbourhood 5.

The area in Neighbourhood 7 between Bedok Reservoir Road and Pan Island Expressway is earmarked for development of 1,100 units of 3-, 4-, 5-room Model A and Executive Apartments, 583 units of HUDC flats, an open space, a secondary school and a sports ares. Construction of the sports area and public housing is underway. The sports area will be ready by the end of this year, while the public housing development will be completed by the end of 1983. Tender for the building work of HUDC flats has been called.
