Encik Saidi Haji Shariff asked the Minister for Communications and Minister for Labour, in view of the urgent requests from the residents, whether he will indicate what bus services have been planned for Bedok/Tampines New Town.

Mr Ong Teng Cheong: Sir, Tampines New Town is still in its early stages of development. So far, only a few hundred units of flats along Avenue 2 have been ballotted. To serve these residents, plans are being finalized to introduce a service from this neighbourhood direct to Bedok Interchange where connections can be made to most parts of Singapore.

More services will be introduced as Tampines New Town develops. A total of eight feeder services have been planned. Trunk services will be provided to various parts of the CBD, Changi Airport, New Towns as well as major nearby industrial estates and the main traffic corridors nearby.
