Business Motion
The Minister for Trade and Industry (Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam): Sir, I beg to move the Motion* standing in my name as it appears on the Order Paper.
*The Motion reads as follows:
That, notwithstanding the Standing Orders,:--
(1) an additional day, namely, Tuesday, 15th March, 1983, be allotted for the debate on the motion for approval of the financial policy of the Government for the financial year 1983/84 moved by the Minister for Trade and Industry on 4th March, 1983; and
(2) the allotted days named by the Minister for Trade and Industry for discussion of the Main and Development Estimates for the financial year 1983/84 in Committee of Supply be, as a consequence, altered to 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th March, 1983.
Sir, I have been informed that quite a number of Members have indicated that they wish to speak in the Budget debate and that it is unlikely that one day will be sufficient. It is for this reason that I have been asked to move this Motion standing in my name in the Order Paper.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That, notwithstanding the Standing Orders, -
(1) an additional day, namely, Tuesday, 15th March, 1983, be allotted for the debate on the motion for approval of the financial policy of the Government for the financial year 1983/84 moved by the Minister for Trade and Industry on 4th March, 1983; and
(2) the allotted days named by the Minister for Trade and Industry for discussion of the Main and Development Estimates for the financial year 1983/84 in Committee of Supply be, as a consequence, altered to 16th, 17th, 18th, 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th March, 1983.
