Mr Goh Chee Wee asked the Minister for National Development (a) how many Housing and Development Board flat owners are currently paying monthly instalment for the purchase of their flat; and (b) how many of them are making their monthly payment through the Central Provident Fund and, of these, how many do not have sufficient money in the Fund to meet their monthly payment in full.

Mr Lee Yock Suan (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, Sir, there are 161,200 flat owners currently paying monthly instalments for the purchase of their flats.

103,700 pay their monthly instalments through the CPF. Of these, only 19,600 do not have sufficient CPF money to meet their monthly payments in full.
