Mr Yeo Toon Chia asked the Minister for National Development what plans he has for the vacant land along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 fronting the apartment blocks; and whether it is feasible to convert part of the vacant land into a car park for heavy vehicles as there are insufficient parking lots for such vehicles in Ang Mo Kio New Town.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Sir, the vacant land opposite Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1 is part of Bishan New Town. It is designated as a public open space and is planned to be used as a recreational park.

The HDB has already provided ample parking facilities for heavy vehicles in Ang Mo Kio New Town. Ang Mo Kio Industrial Park 2 has a centralized lorry park with a total of 303 lots.
