Mr Yeo Toon Chia asked the Minister for National Development whether there are any plans to build a multi-storey car park in Ang Mo Kio Town Centre in view of the acute shortage of parking space.

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Mr Speaker, Sir, the HDB is aware of the parking problem in Ang Mo Kio Town Centre. A multi-storey car park, to be completed in 1987, will be built in Ang Mo Kio Town Centre.

Mr Yeo Toon Chia: ( In Mandarin): Sir, I would like to know how many cars can be parked in this multi-storey car park?

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: Sir, I do not have the information on the size of the car park. However, I will give this information to the Member for Ang Mo Kio when I obtain this information from the HDB.

Dr Arthur Beng Kian Lam (Fengshan): Sir, what will be the season parking charge in the multi-storey car park, if this is envisaged, say, in other new towns also?

Mr Teh Cheang Wan: The charge is the standard rate for a multi-storey car park. There are two rates, one for an open car park and the other for a multi-storey car park which is at a higher rate. So this higher rate will be the standard rate for the multi-storey car park.
