Encik Zulkifli bin Mohammed asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board has plans to improve the present system of renewing vehicle season parking tickets at all HDB Area Offices.

The Minister for National Development (Mr Teh Cheang Wan): Mr Speaker, Sir, the HDB is in the process of computerizing the sale of season parking tickets. Once the system has been computerized, residents will be able to purchase season parking tickets direct from the cashiers at HDB Area Offices. They will not have to queue up at the Car Park Section for their vehicle registration numbers and residential status to be verified. Furthermore, they will be permitted to purchase season tickets for any number of months up to 12 months, instead of in multiples of three months under the existing scheme. The new season ticket will also feature a tear-off slip to remind motorists of their next renewal date.

The computerized system will be tried out at Ang Mo Kio South, Chin Swee and Tampines South Area Offices next month before the full implementation at all HDB Area Offices in August 1986.

Apart from computerization, the HDB is also looking into other improvements, such as the renewal of season parking tickets by post and the payment of charges through cashless means.
