Encik Ibrahim Othman asked the Minister for National Development what are the development plans for the vacant lot adjacent to the Housing and Development Board flats at Upper East Coast Road Estate bounded by Bedok South Road, Bedok South Avenue 3 and Upper East Coast Road.
The Minister for National Development (Mr S. Dhanabalan): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Housing and Development Board has no immediate development plans for the vacant lot bounded by Bedok South Road Extension, Bedok South Avenue 3 and Upper East Coast Road.
Encik Ibrahim Othman (Tanah Merah): Sir, would the Ministry of National Development consider turning that vacant plot into a park or a playing field for the use of residents?
Mr Dhanabalan: Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, there is no intention to turn it into a park. The area will be turfed and will be kept clean because it has to be made available for development, maybe, in the next one or two years. There is no need for a park in that area at the present moment.
