Mr Heng Chiang Meng asked the Minister for National Development when the new road connecting Yio Chu Road (near Boh Sua Tian Road) to Ang Mo Kio Avenue 5 (near the Central Expressway) will be ready.
Dr Lee Boon Yang (for the Minister for National Development): Mr Speaker, I am answering on behalf of my Minister.
Sir, the new road is actually the northward extension of the Central Expressway. Construction of this stretch of expressway commenced in July 1986 and is scheduled to be completed towards the end of 1987. Completion may be delayed because there is a clearance of the industries in the area which is taking longer than is expected. 11.42 am
[Mr Deputy Speaker in the Chair]
Mr Teo Chong Tee: Sir, in asking Question No. 11, may I first declare that I have no pecuniary interest on this subject, although I am an employee of SATS in Changi Airport. Question No. 11, Sir.
