Encik Othman bin Haron Eusofe asked the Minister for the Environment (a) what is the progress on the repair and renovation works currently carried out at Masjid Haji Mohd Salleh at Palmer Road; and (b) what is the expected completion date of the project.

The Minister for the Environment (Dr Ahmad Mattar): Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Member for Geylang Serai may be pleased to know that repair and renovation works on Keramat Habib Noh at Palmer Road and Masjid Haji Mohd Salleh adjoining it will be completed by the end of next month. The mosque, when completed, can accommodate about 500 worshippers.

Encik Othman bin Haron Eusofe (Geylang Serai): Sir, would the Minister ask MUIS to provide financial assistance to the Mosque Committee to help furnish the mosque?

Dr Ahmad Mattar: Mr Deputy Speaker, Sir, as far as I know, MUIS is trying to look for a donor to carpet the mosque and the new Masjid Al-Falah at Bideford Road has agreed to donate a "mimbar" or pulpit to the mosque.
