Mr Teo Chong Tee asked the Minister for Communications and Information what is the rationale for the Mass Rapid Transit Corporation to insist that senior citizens show their Singapore Bus Service special concession pass first before allowing them to purchase the concessional stored-value ticket; whether the MRTC will consider allowing them concession for single trip travel; and why is it necessary for MRTC to confine the concessional travel only during the off-peak period.
The Minister for Communications and Information (Dr Yeo Ning Hong): Sir, the questions asked by the hon. Member are on operational and commercial matters under the purview of the Singapore Mass Rapid Transit Limited, which is a private company, and not that of the MRTC which is the builder of the MRT system. I have referred the Member's questions to SMRT and they will be giving the answers.
