The Leader of the House (Mr Wong Kan Seng): Mr Speaker, Sir, we have come to the end of a very long sitting which began on the 12th of this month. And in the process, I think one of Dr Lee Siew-Choh's bugs must have gone into Dr Koh Lip Lin - apparently he is not here - when he made the comparison between Minister Dhanabalan and some of my other colleagues, ie, about them "making money" and "not making money" in formulating their policies. In my working experience with all my Cabinet colleagues, I believe all of them make decisions for the purpose of public good and not for the purpose of "making money".
On that note, Sir, I beg to move,
That Parliament do now adjourn to a date to be fixed.
Mr Speaker: I think after listening to the Leader of the House and all the Members for the last 14 days, I am entitled to say a few words too.
For the last 14 sitting days, I have been listening to all of you very intensely and with great patience. I think the fact that we have been able to cover so much ground these days has been due in no small measure to the cooperation I have received from honourable Members. Though some have yet to learn to do so, I think many have mercifully followed my advice to keep their speeches concise. I have been very firm in exercising my guillotine and that was really to ensure that all those who wanted to speak were given the chance to speak. And if the cuts that I have inflicted upon you have left wounds which were deeper than they ought to have been, please try to understand that your suffering was in the common interest.
Resolved,
"That Parliament do now adjourn to a date to be fixed." - [Mr Wong Kan Seng].
Adjourned accordingly at Seven Minutes to Four o'clock pm to a date to be fixed.
