Dr Lee Siew-Choh asked the Minister for Education whether any schools or educational institutions were paid any monies to send students to attend the National Trades Union Congress rally on 1st May 1991.
Mr Tang Guan Seng (for the Minister for Education): I am answering on behalf of my Minister, Sir.
No monies were paid to schools or educational institutions to send students to attend the National Trades Union Congress Rally on 1st May 1991. At the invitation of the NTUC, four vocational institutes and three secondary schools sent their students to attend the Rally. The NTUC reimbursed the students $3 each to cover their expenses for transportation and meals at each session.
Dr Lee Siew-Choh: Was not the $3 paid money?
Mr Tang Guan Seng: This is reimbursement for their meals and transportation.
