Mr Low Thia Khiang asked the Minister for National Development how many shop-houses and how much void deck space in Housing and Development Board estates were occupied by the People's Action Party as offices and community halls from 1965 to 1991 up to the time the HDB decided it did not want to provide offices for Members of Parliament.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang (for the Minister for National Development): Before 1987, the People's Action Party rented shops and converted void deck space from HDB for use as offices. In 1987, the PAP terminated all such tenancies. As HDB does not keep historical records of tenancies terminated long ago, the information on offices and void deck space let to the PAP from 1965 to 1987 is not available.

HDB does not let out any Community Hall to the PAP. Community Halls are let to Advisors to Citizens' Consultative Committees/Residents' Committees.
