Mr Tong Kok Yeo asked the Minister for Finance whether he will consider reviewing the quantum of the allowance for pensioners.

Dr Richard Hu Tsu Tau: Mr Speaker, Sir, the issue has been raised by other Members in the past. I have explained that the Singapore Allowance was revised in 1980, 1982 and 1986.

The Ministry of Finance reviews the Singapore Allowance periodically and if there is justification, a revision will indeed be made.
