Dr Kanwaljit Soin asked the Minister for Education what happened to the 8.8% of the pupils who did not pass their Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE) in 1992.
Mr Lee Yock Suan: In the 1992 PSLE, 5.2% of the cohort (ie 2053 candidates) was retained. Another 1398 candidates (3.6% of the cohort) who were too old to be retained in primary schools were invited to join the Institute of Technical Education. Of those who were retained, 2022 sat for the 1993 PSLE.
