Dr Koh Lip Lin asked the Acting Minister for National Development why there is a delay in the construction of a shelter over the pedestrian overhead bridge at Yishun Avenue 2, in front of Khatib MRT Station.

The Acting Minister for National Development (Mr Lim Hng Kiang): Mr Speaker, Sir, work on the shelter over the pedestrian overhead bridge at Yishun Avenue 2 in front of Khatib MRT Station was originally scheduled to start early this year. However, responding to requests from the Town Council and the MRTC, the Public Works Department has agreed to increase the scope of the works to provide a continuous cover from Block 838 to the MRT station as well as a cover to the taxi bay adjacent to the MRT station. This has resulted in some delay. The work will now start in June 1994.

Dr Koh Lip Lin (Nee Soon South): Sir, may I know the expected date of completion of the project?

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: Such work should not take too long, so we should finish it in due course.
