Dr Koh Lip Lin asked the Acting Minister for National Development what are the development plans for the following plots of land in Nee Soon South constituency: (i) the land between Blocks 791 and 792 at Yishun Ring Road; (ii) the land between Khatib MRT Station and Block 804 at Yishun Avenue 2; (iii) the land bounded by Yishun Avenue 2, Yishun Ring Road and Block 838; and (iv) the land bounded by Yishun Ring Road and Blocks 846 and 848.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: Mr Speaker, Sir, the plot of land between Block 791 and Block 792 at Yishun Avenue 2 is designated for a primary school.

The other three plots, as mentioned in the Question, are sites reserved for future development. The specific plans for these sites have not been finalised.

Dr Koh Lip Lin: Is the Minister aware that the plot of land between Block 791 and Block 792 is all walled up by residential blocks and it is actually not a suitable site for a school? I would like to know whether his Ministry will reconsider the plan for that plot of land.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: Sir, the intention of building a school on the piece of land between Block 791 and Block 792 is to give more space to the blocks. Because for a primary school, a large part of the site is the school field. We intend to design the school in such a way that the school building will be towards the gabled-end walls of the blocks and the school field will provide the open space between the blocks.
