FATAL MISHAPS IN SHIPYARDS AND CONSTRUCTION SITES (Preventive measures)

Mr Chia Shi Teck asked the Minister for Labour (a) whether the many fatal mishaps in shipyards and construction sites were caused by human error and can be prevented; (b) whether the errors were committed by new and raw foreign workers; (c) whether all local and foreign workers of contractors and subcontractors have to undergo some stringent safety training before being assigned to work; and (d) what are his Ministry's plans to prevent or minimize such disasters.
