Mr Wong Kan Seng: Mr Speaker, Sir, in view of the public interest generated on the subject, I intend to move a motion on the adjournment under Standing Order No. 42 in order to allow Members to debate the Prime Minister's Statement. Before I proceed, may I seek your consent and the general assent of the Members present to move that the debate on the Prime Minister's Statement be exempted from the provisions of Standing Order No. 45 to enable Members to speak more than once and without being subjected to the time limit for speeches?
Mr Speaker: I give my consent. Is it the pleasure of hon. Members that the motion be moved by the Leader of the House?
Hon. Members indicated assent.
Question put, and agreed to.

That the debate on the Prime Minister's Statement be exempted from the provisions that no Member shall speak more than once to any question and from the time limit for speeches laid down in paragraphs (3) and (8) respectively of Standing Order No. 45. - [Mr Wong Kan Seng].
