Dr Lee Tsao Yuan asked the Minister for Information and the Arts, as regards the recent revisions to the Internet Code of Practice, what channels are available for continued public feedback regarding Internet regulations, in order to meet the twin objectives of promoting the growth of the Internet, and protecting children from pornographic material.

BG George Yong-Boon Yeo: SBA will serve as the primary channel for public feedback on the regulation of Internet content. The public can provide SBA feedback by letter, telephone or e-mail.

Other channels for feedback are the National Internet Advisory Committee (NIAC) and its various sub-committees. The Ministry of Education also takes a special interest in Internet content. Members of the public can also call the Feedback Unit.

The recent revision of the Internet Code of Practice, and the issue of new Industry Guidelines, were done after wide consultations with various groups.
