Official Report, 15 January 1998, Vol 68, Issue 2 · Open in the reader (summaries, search, filters)

Dr Lee Tsao Yuan asked the Minister for Trade and Industry (i) how the households for the Singapore ONE pilot project were selected and (ii) whether it is possible for interested households to request for a link-up.

Mr Lee Yock Suan: The Singapore ONE pilot was launched in June 1997 and is still in its pilot phase.

Households can access Singapore ONE through two network operators: Singapore Telecom (SingTel) and Singapore Cable Vision (SCV). Island-wide service is not available at the moment, but both operators are upgrading their systems with a view towards island-wide service by end 1998. There is no selection process for the Singapore ONE pilot project. Households which are located in the areas serviced by SingTel's or SCV's network will be able to participate in the Singapore ONE pilot by subscribing to either network operator's service.

Households interested in participating in the Singapore ONE pilot, or subscribing to the service in future, can approach SingTel, SCV or the National Computer Board for assistance.
