Dr Lee Tsao Yuan asked the Minister for Trade and Industry, in light of the proposed trade financing scheme for Indonesia, whether it is now time to make publicly available Singapore's trade statistics with Indonesia.

Mr Lee Yock Suan: Our bilateral trade finance guarantee scheme is to help facilitate trade between Singapore and Indonesia through selective guarantees of Letters of Credit issued in Indonesia. Restoration of trade is vital to the recovery of the Indonesian economy.

The implementation of the trade finance guarantee scheme does not depend on the publication of our trade statistics with Indonesia.
