Official Report, 1 June 1998, Vol 69, Issue 1 · Open in the reader (summaries, search, filters)

Mr Goh Choon Kang asked the Minister for National Development whether the Housing and Development Board has any plans for the plot of vacant land bounded by Blocks 401 to 403 at Serangoon Avenue 1 and, if not, whether the Town Council will be allowed to convert it into a small precinct park for the residents.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: The vacant land bounded by Blocks 401 to 403 at Serangoon Avenue 1 is a site reserved for a multi-storey carpark. As currently there are sufficient parking lots for the residents in the area, HDB has no plan to build the multi-storey carpark yet. HDB has no objection to the site being used temporarily by the Town Council as a precinct park for the residents for the time being. A Temporary Occupation Licence could be issued to the grassroots organisation, such as the Constituency Citizens' Consultative Committee, for the purpose.
