Mr Goh Choon Kang asked the Minister for National Development if the Housing and Development Board will take more effective action against the illegal parking of foreign-registered motorcycles in HDB housing estates.

Mr Lim Hng Kiang: HDB has been taking enforcement action against foreigners who park their vehicles (including motorcycles) illegally in HDB carparks. Since November 1994, HDB has been clamping foreign-registered vehicles with outstanding parking offences and found contravening parking rules. This measure has proven to be effective.

Another effective measure is the checking of foreign-registered vehicles at Tuas and Woodlands Checkpoints. Those found with outstanding parking offence notices would be stopped and advised to settle their parking fines.

HDB has also stepped up enforcement in areas prone to illegal parking of foreign-registered motorcycles in HDB housing estates.
