Mr Steve Chia Kiah Hong asked the Minister for Home Affairs if more pages in the Singapore Passport can be added on, like in Canada and the USA, when it runs out of empty pages before its 10-year validity period expires.

Mr Wong Kan Seng: The Canadian passport contains 24 or 48 pages with allowance for an additional 10 pages to be added on. The US passport holds 24 pages with allowance for another 24 pages to be added on.

The Singapore passport contains 96 pages. This is more than the number of pages in the Canadian and US passports (even with the additional pages added) as well as the passports of many other countries. Our experience shows that only approximately 10% of the number of applications for passport renewal is due to the pages being used up before the passport's 10-year validity period expires. Hence, for the majority of Singaporeans, the 96 pages are more than sufficient to meet their travel needs.
