Sale of HDB Flats to Unwed Mothers

Mr Lim Biow Chuan asked the Minister for National Development whether the Government will consider making HDB flats available for sale to unwed mothers with children.

Mr Khaw Boon Wan: Unmarried parents with children can apply to buy a Build-to-Order (BTO) flat from HDB with their parents. Should they wish to live on their own, they can buy a HDB resale flat from the open market and receive a housing grant for their purchase, if they are aged 35 or older. Alternatively, they can also apply to buy a 2-room BTO flat in a non-mature estate from HDB.
