The Chief Minister: Mr Speaker, Sir, the Secretary of State for the Colonies will be here only a few days and there are matters of vital moment to discuss with him. For example, this afternoon, we have the question of citizenship on which the Chinese Chamber of Commerce will be presenting a memorandum, and I should like to be present. Tomorrow morning, there is a meeting of the Trade Advisory Council and I should like to be present there, Sir, as the Minister for Commerce and Industry, in order to discuss our trade relations with our neighbours; also certain questions arising out of our relations with our neighbours within the Commonwealth.
In these circumstances, Sir, I would like to suggest to the House that we do adjourn for a few days before continuing with the remaining business. I move,
That this Assembly do adjourn to the 24th of August, 1955.
Mr A. J. Braga: I rise to second it.
Question put, and agreed to.
Resolved,
That this Assembly do adjourn to the 24th of August, 1955.
Adjourned accordingly at 12.07 p.m. to the 24th of August, 1955.
