Official Report, 18 August 1955, Vol 1, Issue 11 · Open in the reader (summaries, search, filters)
Mr G. A. P. Sutherland asked the Chief Secretary whether, in view of the shortage of radiologists in Singapore, any attempt has been made to obtain the services of an experienced radiologist from the Federation of Malaya; and whether the appointment of such a person with the necessary qualifications would be considered regardless of whether or not the applicant is an expatriate.
Mr W. A. C. Goode: There are 4 vacancies for Radiologists: one Senior Radiologist and 3 Radiologists. For the post of Senior Radiologist all qualified officers were considered including those in the Federation but since a locally domiciled officer had already been sent to the United Kingdom to obtain the requisite qualification it was decided to postpone filling this post.
For the 3 posts of Radiologists applications have been invited and are awaited.
In accordance with the statement of policy given in the Governor's speech to the Legislative Assembly the appointment of expatriate officers (including officers from the Federation) is subject to prior reference to the Council of Ministers.
