Mr M. P. D. Nair asked the Minister for Local Government, Lands and Housing how many houses built by the Singapore Improvement Trust have separate dining rooms.

Inche Abdul Hamid Bin Haji Jumat: Mr Speaker, Sir, I understand from the Singapore Improvement Trust that Trust houses have not been designed with a separate room to serve as a dining room. As a result, most of the houses have a room, which serves both as a living room and as a dining room.

Mr Nair: Sir, could the Hon. the Minister say whether he is satisfied with the present standard of accommodation provided by the Singapore Improvement Trust without dining rooms, and whether he would look into the matter and see whether separate dining rooms could be provided in future housing schemes?
