Mr Seah Peng Chuan asked the Minister for Commerce and Industry how many new industries and/or enterprises have been established since January 1956, and how many have ceased operation since then.

Mr J. M. Jumabhoy: Sir, during the period 1st January, 1956 to 30th April, 1957, 133 new industries were established, and 12 industries ceased operations during the same period.
