Mr Lee Choon Eng asked the Chief Secretary what are the qualifications for the post of Assistant Director of Information Services, and whether the post will be advertised.

Mr S. T. Stewart: Sir, the post of Assistant Director of Information Services which appears in the current Estimates is an administrative service post to carry out the day-today administration of this large and expanding Department. The qualification for direct entry into the administrative service is an honours degree. This post is presently held by an administrative officer and it is not therefore proposed to advertise the post.

Mr Lee Choon Eng: Sir, is it not the recommendation of the Malayanisation Commission that this post should be advertised for local journalists?

Mr Stewart: Sir, that is in respect of the post of Director of Information Services.
