Inche Mohd. Ali Bin Alwi asked the Minister for Home Affairs whether the importation and possession of Communist literature in Singapore is prohibited by the Government.
Mr Ong Pang Boon: Mr Speaker, Sir, under the Undesirable Publications Ordinance (Chapter 124), the Government has power to prohibit the importation of any publication, the sale or circulation of which is prejudicial to public safety in Malaya and the maintenance of public order therein. Under the Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Ordinance, No. 26 of 1955, it is an offence to make, or cause to be made, carry, possess or have under one's control, without lawful excuse, any subversive document.
