[Mr SPEAKER in the Chair]
Inche Mohd. Ali Bin Alwi asked the Deputy Prime Minister what was the total expenditure out of Government funds on the recent International Air Show at the Singapore Airport and what was the total Government revenue derived from the Show.
Dr Toh Chin Chye: Mr Speaker, the final checking of all bills and the calculation of revenue have not yet been completed. On present calculations, it appears that the total Government expenditure on the Air Show will approximate $55,000, and that the total revenue derived will approximate $60,000. Other expenses of a minor nature may have to be met. But it is anticipated that the Air Show will have been held with little or no cost to the Singapore Government.
Inche Mohd. Ali Bin Alwi: (In Malay): Mr Speaker, Sir, can the Minister responsible say when the full statement of accounts can be made known to this Assembly?
Dr Toh Chin Chye: I expect the accounts to be fully rendered and audited within a month, Mr Speaker. When they are fully accounted for, if the Member for Kampong Kembangan wishes to see them, I will be only too happy to show them.
