Mr Tan Cheng Tong asked the Minister for Labour whether he has any information as to who paid for the expenses of Mr C. V. Devan Nair when he attended the recent International Labour Conference in Geneva, and whom did he represent.

Mr Ong Pang Boon: The expenses of Mr C. V. Devan Nair along with other delegates who attended the recent International Labour Conference held in Geneva from 5th to 27th June, 1963, were paid by the Singapore Government.

Mr Devan Nair attended the Conference in his capacity as the workers' representative.

Mr Tee Kim Leng (Pasir Panjang): (In Mandarin): Mr Speaker, Sir, can the Minister give the names of the members of the delegation?

Mr Ong Pang Boon: Mr Speaker, Sir, the observer delegation of the Singapore Government comprised the following:-

The Commissioner for Labour.

Mr Devan Nair,

Two advisers to the workers' representatives - Mr Hsu Tze Kwang and Mr Ho See Beng,

An employers' representative - Mr G. C. Thio.

Mr Tee Kim Leng: (In Mandarin): Mr Speaker, Sir, did they go to other places in addition to Geneva?

Mr Speaker: That supplementary question does not arise out of the original question. If the Minister chooses to answer, he can do so if he has the information.

Mr Ong Pang Boon indicated dissent.

Mr Speaker: The question is out of order on those grounds.
