Mr N. Govindasamy asked the Minister for Defence whether it is necessary for the Police to have the body of a traffic accident victim at the spot of his death for a considerable length of time before removal and thus induce a traffic jam.
Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, the victim of a fatal traffic accident is removed as soon as the preliminary investigations at the scene of the accident are completed.
Mr N. Govindasamy (Telok Blangah): Mr Speaker, Sir, of late there have been cases of preliminary investigations going on for about two hours or more. Can something be done to speed up preliminary investigations on the road?
Mr Lim Kim San: Mr Speaker, Sir, we will make every effort to shorten the period of inquiry. At the moment, we are compiling records of cases in which the police took a long time over the inquiry or the police hearse took a long time to come to the scene of the accident.
