Mr Ho Kah Leong asked the Minister for Social Affairs whether a fire station will be built in Jurong Town and when.

Mr Chan Chee Seng (for the Minister for Social Affairs): Mr Speaker, Sir, although provision was first made in the 1966 Development Estimates for a fire station in Jurong Town, this provision was deleted in the 1969-70 Development Estimates on the ground of proximity of the Bukit Timah and Alexandra Fire Stations to Jurong Town.

If it is found that these two fire stations are inadequate to meet the needs of Jurong Town, consideration will be given for the reinstatement of this provision in the Development Estimates of the next fiscal year.
