Mr Hwang Soo Jin asked the Minister for Defence if he will consider establishing either a police station or police post at Jalan Kayu in the Jalan Kayu Constituency.

The Minister for Defence (Mr Lim Kim San): Mr Speaker, Sir, Jalan Kayu Constituency is served by patrols deployed from Yio Chu Kang Police Station and the Division Headquarters Station at Paya Lebar. Jalan Kayu and the village are within the boundaries of Yio Chu Kang Police Station, which is situated at 9- m.s. Yio Chu Kang Road, about one and a half miles away. In view of the proximity of Yio Chu Kang Police Station to the village, it is not considered necessary or economically wise to open another police station or a police post in Jalan Kayu at the moment.

The siting of police stations and posts depends on the overall development in any area. If the development of the area in future makes it necessary to replace the present Yio Chu Kang Police Station, consideration will be given to establishing a station or post in Jalan Kayu.
